Come and see Royal Museums Greenwich’s new purpose built collection storage facility and conservation studios. The tour will cover all areas of the building with a particular focus on those areas connected to the care and conservation of easel paintings and their frames. Topics covered during the tours will examine issues around designing a building fit-for-purpose, planning and executing the studio and store moves, possibilities for new collaborative ways of working and incorporating an effective public engagement strategy.
Itinerary:
13:30 Welcome and introduction to PPMCC
14:00 Form 2 groups. Group 1 tour Studios / Group 2 tour Collections
15:00 As above – switch groups
16:00 Group discussion & refreshments
16:30 Take train to nearby pub in Blackheath (location TBC)
Maximum of 24 visitors. Please email BAPCRsecretary@gmail.com to secure a place (first-come first-served, priority will be given to BAPCR members). Tickets cost £10. Tickets must be paid for in full once confirmation of the place has been received. A waiting list will operate. Refunds will only be given if the ticket can be resold, a £5 administrative fee will be charged.
