Evening Talks
The Association organises three lively and well attended evening meetings per year featuring a guest lecturer. The evening talks are free to BAPCR members.
We meet in the elegant Arts-and-Crafts lecture hall of the Art Workers Guild, a Georgian house at 6 Queen Square, London (nearest tube Russell Square, Piccadilly Line).
Meetings are open to both BAPCR members (free) and non-members (£10). The meetings usually start at 6.30pm with the evening lecture starting at 7pm. Attendance must be registered with the Secretary beforehand.
Illustrated lectures are given by leading professionals from painting conservation and its many related fields. Lectures subjects can cover conservation practice, conservation science, technical art history and history of art, amongst others.
For a list of previous talks please see our Previous BAPCR Events archive. A review of the evening lecture is usually published in the issue of The Picture Restorer following the talk.
If you are non-BAPCR member and you would like to be emailed about forthcoming BAPCR events please email Secretary and ask to be added to the ‘Events emails list’.
Visits
BAPCR members have travelled near and far with the Association! We organise visits for small groups of members to gain special access to places of particular interest.
Previous day visits have been to: conservation studios (both in the public and the private sector) specialising in paintings and in other disciplines; exhibitions and interesting art collections and materials manufacturers.
Previous study visits to exhibitions and painting conservation studios have included a weekend visit to Edinburgh, a week in St Petersburg, four days in Kyiv and four days in New York.
For a full list of all previous visits please see our Previous BAPCR Events archive.
Where do you want to visit? If, as a BAPCR member, you would like to request a visit to a particular venue or would like to host a visiting group please contact the Secretary.

Conferences
Since 1993 the Association has enabled the intellectual and practical exploration of chosen areas of our profession by hosting day long conferences∗, many of which have resulted in a conference publication volume. Please see the previous events listings for further details of the conferences that have been held.
We aim to host a conference every three years. The Council welcomes suggestions for conference subjects, these should be sent to the Secretary.
∗Some of these conferences have been hosted jointly with ICON.
