The first few years of any new career can be bewildering, and that of paintings conservation is no exception. Private practitioners also have to deal with clients, manage the business, jump through the many hoops of tax, employment law and insurance, and all this before a brush or swab is wielded. The Council of the British Association of Paintings Conservator-Restorers (BAPCR, formerly the ABPR) is keen to bring students and recent graduates from training institutions together with seasoned professionals, in the hope that a path can be navigated across this minefield. This meeting will consist of presentations by guest speakers, with the chance to pick their brains afterwards at ta question and answer session.
Speakers – Caroline Babbington, Ruth Bubb, Jim Dimond and Simon Howell.
