John Jones Framers London
The BAPCR are organising a visit to the John Jones Framers London on Thursday 9th June from 4pm to 5.30pm.
Established in north London in the 1960s, John Jones is a family owned and family run business encompassing highly skilled craftspeople, conservators, technicians and designers. Their services include bespoke picture framing, fine art conservation and collection care. They also make hand-made, professional quality artist surfaces including canvas stretchers and panels.
John Jones operates from The Arts Building, a six-storey New York style warehouse offering state-of-the-art facilities. With an international reputation for commitment to the care of art, John Jones has become the trusted partner of some of the world’s most prestigious institutions and collectors.
The John Jones conservation department is a spacious and well-equipped studio run by a skilled and experienced team of conservators, providing a dedicated service tailored to clients’ needs and supporting the work of the framing team. In-house treatment focuses on works of art on paper and board, including paintings, drawings, photographs, prints, pastels, and paper-based sculptures. They also work closely with external conservators covering other specialisms such as textiles, sculpture and works on canvas.
The Conservation Department offers services that include:
– Condition reports discussing current condition and future preservation
– Treatment of artworks for repair and to improve condition
– Environmental monitoring and suggestions for improving display and storage environments
– Advice on long-term care strategies
– Documentation for insurance policy and claim purposes
The BAPCR tour will include their conservation studio and a discussion about their sealed enclosure framing.
The cost of this visit is £5 for BAPCR members.
