Membership of BAPCR is open to paintings conservator-restorers from the private sector
and from museums or public collections, conservation scientists. and at a special
rate students on recognized training courses and trainees in private studios.
There are three categories of membership of the BAPCR; Fellow, Associate and Student
Associate.
Benefits of Membership include:
- Free (or reduced price) entry to BAPCR meetings. Meetings are held regularly and
cover a wide range of interesting topics. All speakers are professionals in their
respective fields.
- Reduced entry to BAPCR conferences and special events.
- Two copies of the Picture Restorer per year.
- The opportunity to attend organised visits to conservation studios in the United
Kingdom. A mixture of studios in museums and heritage institutions and those run
privately are selected for visits.
- The opportunity to meet other conservators and restorers at our well attended social
functions.
Fellowship of BAPCR is awarded following examination to members who have at least
seven years’ experience. It is the Association’s accreditation, and as such shows
prospective clients, as well as the world at large, that the Fellow has achieved
a level of mastery in the field. It is also accepted by other bodies—for example
the Conservation Register counts the BAPCR as an accrediting body for inclusion of
practices on their own database.
