Studio visit, Bristol
We are lucky enough to have arranged a visit to several
conservation studios and museums in this one day trip to
Bristol. Starting with a behind the scenes peek at Bristol's
Industrial Museum we will be viewing the Verrio wall painting,
currently being restored. In the afternoon there will be the
opportunity to visit the International Fine Art Conservation
Studio, where they are in the final stages of a three year
project to conserve 32 canvases by Robert Streeter. Following
this we will visit Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery where
Carolyn Lamb will discuss issues for painting conservation in
the museum using examples from the Love exhibition (National
Gallery touring exhibition), the permanent galleries, the art
store and the painting conservation studio.

10th June 2008: Studio visit, Timothy
Newbury
For our second in this series of visits we will be visiting
the studio of Timothy Newbury. Timothy Newbury catalogues,
designs, makes and restores picture frames as well as sculpture
bases for old and modern masters. Trained by Paul Levi from
1978-1987 he has written three books on frames, two for the
Metropolitan Museum of Art and a guide book for the Ashmolean
Museum, Oxford.

15th October 2008: Katherine Ara
Our final studio visit in 2008 is with
Katherine Ara at her studio near Holland Park. Katherine
restores Old Masters and British pictures. She trained at
Newcastle and then at the Hamilton Kerr, and worked at the Tate
Gallery and the Royal Collection prior to establishing a studio
in 1997.
